Report 2: The Niger Office

FRENCH SUDAN (MALI)  Madame Savineau left Bamako on 29 October 1937, having already visited one of the Niger Office settlements the previous day. On 29 October she visited Nienebalé and Baroueli. Then she visited Kokry from 4 to 6 November 1937, Siguene on 7 November, and Niono on 8 November. She left the Niger Office from Segu on 9 November 1937. She finished writing this report on the Niger Office in Gao on 15 December 1937. She was clearly shocked by what she saw in the Niger Office, and her report pulls no punches regarding those in charge of this colonial enterprise.
